I think the title of this particular entry is rather self explanatory. In a rather strange moment of artistic inspiration, I whipped the rest of this baby out on Tuesday (or Monday, I can't remember for sure. My mind's still a bit hazy after the WGI Tampa Power Regional this past weekend). I know that I mentioned that a lot would happen in this chapter, and a lot does, but it's not as lengthy as some might think (or hope...). It's about four pages long. XD

In other news, I didn't have time to mention this earlier, but A Study of the Mind was one of the featured stories over at DracoandGinny.com!!! ::squees:: For about two weeks my little fic was a featured story. So a big thanks goes out to Jessica ([livejournal.com profile] jandjsalmon) for deeming my story good enough to be given that honor of sorts.

Chapter 15- Confusion

Blaise,

I need to speak with you. It’s urgent.

Alise

“Hey, Malfoy, you have a visitor.”

“Ah, Ginevra, how nice of you to join me,” Draco replied to his guard’s comment, eager to see Ginny again.

“Yes, well, I suppose it’s nice to see you too, Draco. We haven’t spoken in quite awhile,” Ginny said with a nervous smile before dismissing the guard.

“It pains me to hear that, too. I do enjoy our meetings after all,” Draco answered, pouting slightly.

“I’m terribly sorry about that. I’ve been busy lately and had every intention to visit you, but well, certain events got in my way, and needless to say, I was unable to schedule time with you.”

“It’s quite alright, Ginevra. I completely understand.”

Draco smiled after this last statement and, for some odd reason, it was his smile that unnerved Ginny. Not the fact that he kept referring to her by her real name, but the smile. There was something in that smile that she couldn’t place. Some emotion that was hidden in Draco’s innocent gesture. And the fact that she couldn’t place that emotion was what bothered her.

Shaking off her feelings, Ginny proceeded with her meeting.

Alise,

Just name the place and the time and I’ll be there.

Blaise

Blaise stood outside of the door to Alise’s flat. He had knocked on the door twice already, but there was no response thus far. It was making him uncomfortable, nervous, and he was beginning to fidget; raking a hand through his thick hair, wringing his hands, biting his nails.

He hoped Alise was alright.

Alise had heard Blaise’s insistent knocking and she wanted to answer the door. She wanted to, but that underlying doubt that maybe she should just let her worrying go, gave her cause to pause.

She looked though the small peep hole in the door, watching Blaise fidget. She felt bad for making him this nervous, but well, she was probably just as nervous as he was, if not more.

She took a deep breath before answering the door.

He was just about to knock again when Alise finally opened her front door.

She opened it slowly, a small smile gracing her features, though that same underlying doubt came across in that smile.

Blaise, caught up in the moment, and thankful that Alise opened the door (and was okay), did the only thing he could think of and placed a sound kiss on her lips.

He broke it off before either of their bodies could give in to temptation and after a deep breath said, “Is anything the matter?”

“Oh, well, I’m not really sure – I mean, that is to say – I guess, why don’t you tell me?” Alise replied, taken completely off-guard.

“How am I supposed to know? All I know is that I received a letter from you saying that you wish to speak with me and that it’s urgent,” Blaise stated with a raised eyebrow.

Sighing, Alise invited Blaise inside, leading him to her living room in hopes of talking with him.

After retrieving something to drink for the two of them, Alise plopped onto her couch, eyes closed, head released back.

“Now, why don’t you tell me what all the fuss is about?” Blaise asked, slipping his hand into Alise’s.

She looked into Blaise’s eyes, giving him a sad smile before telling him what Ginny told her about his relationship with Luna.

“Ah,” was all Blaise could say.

“Yeah,” was all Alise could say in response.

Blaise cleared his throat, attempting to speak, “I do realise why you would have any doubts about our relationship, especially considering what Ginny has told you about me. But I want you to know that although I may have done some rather nasty things in the past, that I don’t feel the need to do those things whenever I’m around you. Yeah, I did like Luna, and what I did to her was incredibly stupid and driven entirely by hormones, but I promise you that I would never do something like that to you.”

Alise eyed Blaise sceptically, not sure whether to believe him or not. They had seen each other a great deal after their group date, but she felt it was still too early in their relationship to know for sure if he was telling the truth or not.

Blaise noted the scepticism Alise held and tried to emphasize his words by placing a small kiss on the hand he held.

“I promise,” he told her as he lowered her hand.

Alise glanced down at her hand, then at Blaise’s face, a smile slowly forming on her face before turning into a grin.

“I think I can hold you to that promise.”

Ginny’s meeting with Draco was filled with the normal topics of conversation that had been prominent as of late: his psychologists, his childhood, how he felt recently, etc.

For some reason, though, Ginny felt that she was making little progress with him. There was nothing that she could pull from in order to make a proper assessment of him. Everything seemed too pre-processed, too thought out, in terms of Draco’s responses. And although it bothered her, there was nothing that she could do about it.

She just had to hope for a breakthrough.

* * * * * * * *

“Draco, how do you feel about me as a psychologist? We haven’t discussed that yet.”

“I think you’re rather good, in comparison to the others. There’s something about you that I like; I just can’t put my finger on it.”

“Why don’t you try?”

Ginny was sitting in her customary chair, Draco on his cot. He smiled at her, his eyes flitting over to where his guard was stationed; asleep, of course. He focused back on her before answering.

“I’ve been rather lonely recently, you see. And frankly, Ginevra, you’re the only person I feel I can talk to without becoming angry with them. Pansy refuses to talk to me and Mother and Blaise never come to visit anymore. So, you’re a very special person to me. I feel that I can trust you now and I look forward to our meetings.”

“Really?” Ginny asked him, her eyebrow raised and her voice barely above a whisper.

Over the course of his short speech, Draco had approached Ginny, kneeled in front of her and took her hands into his, staring at her, while she looked down at their intertwined hands.

“I do, Ginny. You’re not like the others,” Draco replied, taking one hand off and placing it on her cheek.

Ginny’s breathing stilled as she raised her eyes to Draco’s, frantically wondering how he had gotten so close to her.

“They don’t hold a candle to you,” Draco continued, leaning in to close the gap between himself and Ginny.

He couldn’t help but smirk when Ginny’s eyes fluttered closed, awaiting his kiss.

* * * * * * * *

The kiss was a dangerous thing.

Rushed, forceful, passionate; Ginny would later use these adjectives to describe it.

It brought special twinges and surges to places that Ginny thought had been dormant for years now.

She had grasped on to his jumpsuit, hoping to somehow breathe better as a result. One arm had snaked down the length of his back, only to wind up having its fingers intertwined with his hair, as she raked her fingernails against him on the way up. He bit her lip hard as a result, a small amount of blood trickling from it, but she didn’t mind. He had made sure to pay close attention to the wound he caused; licking and sucking her bottom lip with a slow casualness that made Ginny want to cry out in frustration.

His own fingers, much like hers, were playing with her hair; wrapping it around each digit, pulling on it at random intervals, eliciting a moan from Ginny. He knew of his talents and made sure to put as much of it as he could into good use with that kiss.

He broke contact with her lips only to place a trail of kisses down her neck, stopping at her collarbone, making sure to spend a great deal of time near the area where her neck and collarbone met. He broke contact again to give Ginny one last kiss; long and lingering in its motions.

Ginny opened her eyes, widening them as she realized who she had just kissed.

Fear and confusion taking a hold of her, she fled the room, her hair mussed and her lips puffy and red from the kiss.

She didn’t bother to turn around to see her partner’s reaction to her escape. If she had, she would have seen a rather pleased Draco Malfoy, a shadow of a smile playing on his talented lips.

A/N- Special thanks to my fabulous beta, Lady Laurelin, for donating her time and skills.
