Story time! (And only because it just hit me last night, which brought on so many lolz.)

So a couple of weeks ago, I met one of Nicole's friends from high school, Dominic. He's graduating this year from high school and he was in Tampa for States competition for Thespians (theater kid, like Nicole). Anywho, we meet up with him at a local mall (a really nice local mall) and it's me, Nicole, her boyfriend, Christian, and Dominic. And Dom is an absolute sweetheart/really cool kid and, at one point, I'm walking along with Nicole and Christian behind me, when Dom catches up to me by doing, like, this high double switch kick thing, which makes me laugh. We start talking, when all of a sudden he tells me to start walking, but placing one foot exactly in front of the other, looking as though I was strutting. THEN HE STARTS DOING IT, TOO.

I was thinking about the end of my freshman year randomly last night, when that moment popped into my head and all of a sudden it hit me. You know that whole, life imitating art thing? Yeah, well, I just had a moment that could've been straight out of Theories on How Danger Finds Us. Which is funny because I'm also a redhead, like Ginny, and Dom would TOTALLY be Blaise in that instance.

I had a nice little chuckle to myself after I realized that. XD I'm a dork; I know.

In other news, I LITERALLY JUST GOT MY PROMPT FOR THE D/G FIC EXCHANGE. It was my second choice. :( I usually get my first, but oh well. I have a feeling that this one is going to be a bit harder for me, but I have some interesting ideas. I'm just hoping that I can put a new twist on something that's been done before and by an author I really respect in the fandom. :/

Dear [livejournal.com profile] dgficexchange,

You and I have had a pretty good relationship in the two times that I've participated in your wonderful exchange of fic (and occasionally art). The first time was a bit of a rocky start, but hey; most relationships aren't always perfect. The second time around, however, I was confident in both my choice of prompt and the final result. What made it even better was that I was nominated 4 times. Four times! For it being my second time writing for an exchange of any kind, I was both honored and excited. I didn't win, but I was still happy to have produced a fic that people felt it had to be nominated and voted for.

I now approach my third round of your exchange and, up until this round's theme was announced, I was pretty excited. I've always loved the mods for the exchange and the layout they've created for this upcoming round is gorgeous. However, when I read the entry regarding this coming round and the new rules established, I became a bit concerned.

While I understand that people dropping out has always been a previous problem, I don't like the idea of limiting the amount of participants to 50. My policy on something like an exchange is that I don't sign up unless I know for certain that I will be able to participate. So, unless someone has a real life issue happen to them after they've signed up, I think it's silly for anyone to sign up if they know that they won't be able to stick to the time constraints. Not only that, but I feel that limiting the number of participants is a bit of a hindrance to the exchange. I'm the type of person that feels that if you want to participate, then you should be allowed to participate. By allowing past participants to sign up first before newbies is a disadvantage to the newbies, but I also think that just because you're a past participant doesn't mean that you produce fantastic products, or that there's a higher chance of you not dropping out (the latter may, or may not be true). Because, honestly, some of the fics by authors who have participated before aren't always the best ones. Or even ones that I personally enjoy. I feel that the fic produced may not be that author's personal best, but because of their name alone and the importance attached to their name that people adore it more.

I also have a bit of an issue with the theme. The theme itself asks for the author to think of a prompt that allows for an in depth look at the characters' respective psyches. If they can't, then oh well. And while I love the theories and concepts practiced in the field of psychology (hell, I wrote an entire fic about it), a vast majority of the stories I've read that features a character practicing in the field is usually more dramatic than humorous in nature. Of course I've seen fics that have a character acting as a psychologist that have been humorous, but well. I don't know. Rio and I feel that because it is the Spring Exchange that the theme should be a bit more light-hearted since it seems as though many authors might come up with fics in a more dramatic and/or angsty vein. I hope that I'm wrong, but it is a very likely possibility.

Please don't take this the wrong way, [livejournal.com profile] dgficexchange. I still plan on signing up and (hopefully) participating, so just take my comments for what they are: comments. I did not write this to bash you or the mods for, like I said previous, I think they are fantastic and I have nothing but respect for them and all that they do. I hope that this round is absolutely amazing. :)

With love,

Posting has begun at the [livejournal.com profile] dgficexchange!!

Go check it out! I'll let you know when the fic I requested has been posted. But not the fic that I wrote. :P You'll just have to figure out which one is mine. *laughs evilly*

So who hasn't finished their fic for the D/G exchange yet?

*slowly raises hand*

I just opened up the Word document for part 3. I need to get this story done either today or tomorrow. Preferably today so I have enough time to turn it in to my beta and then turn in it to the mods by (or before) this Sunday. And this week's Thanksgiving.

Fuckity fucking fuck.

I got my prompt for the D/G Exchange last night.

I already have five pages composed of 2,091 words written for my story thus far.

I think it's safe to say that I'm more than excited for my story.

Now if only I could get excited about my research paper that's due tomorrow, life would be that much sweeter right now...

So I commented on the D/G Fic Exchange as to what prompt I wanted maybe, like, 15-20 minutes after they posted the prompts. My friend, Rio, helped me narrow down my choices. I really hope that I get the one that I chose for my top choice. *crosses fingers* It created the strongest creative response from both myself and Rio (she's majoring in Fine Arts and English. I'm majoring in Magazine Journalism). I'm writing the story, but she's helping me in that I'm just going to bounce ideas off of her and everything.

Speaking of my friend, Rio, before I requested my top 5 prompts, she asked me if I would write her a fic for her birthday, December 20th. I, of course, said yes, and what spawned is rather epic. The title is "Winning Them Over", and yeah; that's about all I'm saying. :D I'll let you know when I finish the first chapter.

[EDIT] Here is my Pimp for the Week:

The D/G Fic (and Art!!) Exchange has started their sign-ups for their fall round. If you want to sign-up (and I think you should because the mods are phenomenal, and the exchange itself is incredibly well-run), then you can click on the link above that says "lovelies" to see my Friends' page, OR you can visit the Exchange's LiveJournal directly by clicking here: [livejournal.com profile] dgficexchange

There IS a theme this time around, though, so for those of you who are participating, please be mindful of their theme when creating your fic and art prompts. I've already signed up, so I'm good to go. I'm not going to tell you all what I asked for in my prompt, though, so don't even ask me. :P Oh, and sign-ups last until the 20th of September, so make sure to get your prompt in before the 20th if you want to participate.

Oh, and I have started writing chapter 7 of Theories on How Danger Finds Us! :D [/EDIT]

Seeing as I have a lot of time on my hands now that I'm in college, in addition to hanging with friends, going to classes, eating, and sleeping, I've been making good use of Photoshop CS3. Recently, though, I've been doing stuff dedicated to non-fandom related things. Mainly one of my favorite groups from the MTV show, America's Best Dance Crew, Fanny Pak. If you have not seen videos of their performances, YouTube them, or go on www.mtv.com >> Shows >> America's Best Dance Crew, Season 2 >> Watch Full Episodes. It used to be that you could watch the individual performances, but I guess since the show is over for this season, they changed that. Oh well.

Anyways, they always had some of the most dynamic, appealing shots from their performances, and, again, since they were my favorite group, I thought I'd do a series of graphics with photos from each performance. I'm working backwards, though, since they had some really good shots at the end. And although they won the VMA challenge (YAY!!), there aren't any photos from their pre-show performance (that I know of).

Episode 8: The 80's Dance Challenges )

Episode 7: The Missy Elliott Challenge: Get UR Freak On )

Well, those are the only two images I have made so far. I'll post them as I go along.

Enjoy!
