[EDIT] Chapter 8 of Theories is now up on FIA. Show it some love, please :D
Also, I feel like I'm about to die, that's how sick I am. :( [/EDIT]
I think I might be getting sick. :( I feel all achy and whatnot.
At least I got some writing done! :D
Here's what I have so far:
“Oh, dear sweet Merlin. I’m in fucking Austria,” I announced dumbly, starting to walk ahead of Gareth.
He ran to catch up with me and grabbed a hold of my arm, steering me in the opposite direction. “Um, that wasn’t exactly the reaction I was hoping for,” he stated with a laugh. “I was hoping for something like, ‘Wow. Thanks Gareth for bringing me to Austria,’ or, ‘I’ve never been to Austria before. This is incredible!’”
I giggled and turned my head to Gareth, a sheepish smile on my face. “Sorry. This is just very...”
“Romantic? Incredible? Awe-inspiring? Mind-blowing? I can keep going, Ginny.”
“Unexpected?” I replied, watching him cringe a bit. “What? I’m just getting used to the idea of me being here. I’ve never had a guy take me to another country on the first date before. I thought those were things saved for later on in the relationship.”
“Well, normally, they are. But, you seem different from the other girls that I’ve dated in that I figure that you would appreciate something like this.”
I blushed before replying. “And I do! I guess I’m just not used to being in a different country yet.”
“You’ll be fine,” Gareth assured me with a smile. “I’ll handle the translating, so, other than that, you have nothing to worry about.”
“You never did answer me why you were picking me up so early.”
“Austria’s an hour a head of England, so your 11:30 is my 12:30. Which is the perfect time for lunch.”
“Fantastic. I’m starving. I didn’t have breakfast this morning since I slept in.”
“Good thing I planned this out then. Who knows what would’ve happened to you if we didn’t get something to eat.”
We kept walking, passing people speaking occasionally in a language that I didn’t understand, completely oblivious to those around them. Gareth guided me across a street, stopping before a small cafe. We sat down at one of the metal tables outside the cafe, making small talk before our waiter came and took our order, Gareth translating in German the entire time.
Our coffee was delivered to our table rather quickly and Gareth and I sipped our respective drinks in silence, savouring the warmth spreading through our bodies.
I placed my cup down, opening my mouth to speak when I noticed a man with black hair wearing a tan coat walking past our table before back-pedalling as he did a double-take. He approached our table, walking straight for Gareth.
“Gareth, was denken Sie, sind Sie hier? Haben Sie eine Vorstellung, was passieren würde, wenn deine Eltern sich heraus, dass Sie sich in Wien?” the man said, almost glaring at Gareth as he spit out his words.
“Hallo, Michael. Ich tue gut. Vielen Dank für die Nachfrage,” Gareth drawled, irritating this “Michael” person.
Michael rolled his eyes, continuing his interrogation. “Ich bin ernsthaft, Gareth. Es gibt einen Grund, warum Ihre Eltern warnten Sie über die kommenden zurück nach Wien.” He paused briefly, flicking his eyes to me as he noticed my presence. “Wer ist sie?”
“Ginny, this is one of my best friends from Durmstrang, Michael Hass,” he stated, motioning between me and Michael. “Michael, das ist Ginny Weasley. Ich gehe in die Schule Lufkin mit ihr.”
“Pleasure to meet you, Ginny,” Michael said in practically flawless English. The bastard could speak English the whole time! “Is this your first time in Vienna?”
I stared at him, gaping, really, as I came to grips with the fact that he not only spoke English, but chose not to speak English from the beginning. “Um, yes, as a matter of fact it is.”
“I hope that you enjoy yourself.” He glanced back over to Gareth. “And that Gareth, here, isn’t too much of a bore,” he added with a smile.
“Thanks,” I replied, smiling.
“Was there something that you wanted, Michael?” Gareth asked, narrowing his eyes at his friend.
Michael sniffed, looking down his nose at Gareth. “Nr. Ich hoffe, Sie merken, wie viel Gefahr, Sie haben gerade die nicht nur selbst, sondern Ginny in. Ich habe nie die Sie für die Art, etwas zu tun als dumm, da dies, vor allem für ein Mädchen, aber gut, ich denke, ich war falsch.” And with that, he walked away without another look at our table.
I have about two pages written thus far, and what I just posted is about a page and a half, so there's still more left that I have written. Oh, and no. I'm going to be evil and not translate the German. It will be translated when the chapter is complete and I have it posted on archives. :D
Thoughts please?
