Being the HP fangirl that I am, I stumbled across this while glancing at MuggleNet's news page:

EW goes on to quote Dan Radcliffe as saying one of the hardest scenes to film was Dumbledore's funeral. But, seeing as that scene was cut from the movie, we figure Dan's referring to WB's alternate scene that pays tribute to the wise old man.

Yeah. I don't know at this point. My faith in WB giving the fans a decent representation of the events in the books is dwindling. I honestly don't understand how, or why, they would take away Dumbledore's funeral. That entire scene would have to be CGI since they have to do the White Tomb. The only reason I can think of is money, which, granted the current economy makes loads of sense, but it's not like WB hasn't been rolling in the dough with these movies. Plus, they probably took the money for that scene and wasted it on superfluous comic relief, or some other such nonsense.

The only time I've ever loved the addition of a scene simply for the laughs is the tap dancing spider bit of dialogue in Prisoner of Azkaban. I commend whoever thought of that. :D

Oh God, I'd also read just recently that they're cutting the funeral scene, which is a damn shame. When I read the scene in the book I actually teared up because it was so beautiful, and I'd been hoping that they could turn it into an equally beautiful moment on-screen. At least they'll include it as a deleted scene on the DVD (hopefully, I'd love to see whatever they have of it)?

I can't wait to see more of young Tom Riddle - that kid is so freakily compelling. :P The casting director really hit the jackpot with him.

I cried when Dumbledore died in the book, but that scene just continued the weep-fest for me. The fact that I read the entire book in one sitting probably didn't help my mental state either. :P And I'm sure they won't have a whole lot for the funeral as I deleted scene. Their deleted scenes tend to be rather short.

I know! I love the fact that they got Ralph Fiennes' nephew. Really great job casting Hero Fiennes.

Wha...? No funeral scene? This displeases me! Oh, I don't know what they're thinking. First they turn Narcissa into a low-rent Cruella De Vil and now... *keyboard smash*

I feel the exact same way. In regards to both the funeral scene and the whole Narcissa debacle. And they were doing so well before they showed us what Narcissa looked like! :(
