I saw this thanks to [livejournal.com profile] persephone33:

It's only TV fandoms, so things like Harry Potter, Twilight, Lord of the Rings, etc, are not included. I think there's four or five categories for people to choose from, ranging from Humor to Teens. And (for me, at least) it was very hard to choose someone to vote for (example: for fake news, you have to choose between Amy Poehler, Seth Meyers, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. WHY TORTURE ME SO? I also had a hard time when I looked at the choices for Angel and Buffy).

But either way, it's so epic. Kudos to the person who thought of this brilliance.

So I completely forgot to post my most recent creative writing assignment. I have one due this coming Tuesday that is supposed to be about 4 or more pages with loads of dialogue. In fact, my professor announced that the more dialogue we have, the better our grade. And after conferencing with my friend, Lisa, I have decided that I'm going to basically write out another Ginny plus the Slytherins dinner sequence Theories-style only without the whole first person narration and different names for the characters. It's snark. I'm good at snark. It'll be easy for me to write 4 or more pages of snarky conversation. Although, if you all have any suggestions, please feel free to share.

Anywho, here's my latest assignment, titled "Flesh, Blood, and Bone". Yes, it's about a cadaver. And yes, I DID get the title from a Harry and the Potters song.

Flesh, Blood, and Bone )

Back to Buffy! I've been working my way through all of the seasons thanks to the lovely Surf the Channel. I'm on season 3, so Angel's gone from good to bad to worse to back to good again, Spike and Drusilla are gone (but Spike's about to show up again. I'm prepared with my drool bucket this time. :P), Willow's with Oz (whom I ADORE. I forgot how much I freaking loved Seth Green as Oz), Xander's with Cordelia (but Xander's being a bit of a douche right now...), Faith's showed up, Willow and Xander are sneaking around behind Oz and Cordi's backs, Buffy's mom knows about the whole slayer-shebang, and the Mayor's freaking insane. Some of my favorite characters haven't even shown up yet, too (Anya is absolutely wonderful and I LOVE the Nerds of Doom).

Dear Target and Alexander McQueen,

OH, DEAR SWEET JESUS. THANK YOU TARGET EXECUTIVES FOR CONVINCING ALEXANDER MCQUEEN TO DO A GO INTERNATIONAL LINE FOR YOUR STORES.

Alexander McQueen, words are not able to convey how ridiculously giddy I am to purchase most (if not all *fingers crossed*) of your collection. The previews from Teen Vogue are fantastic and seems to be comprised of stuff that I would wear in a heartbeat. I can't wait to see all of it in stores. I'm sure my mom will kill me for spending money that should go toward gas, food, other necessities on your clothing line, but hey. The job I have lined up for the summer should cover it. XD

Thank you again! I shall be a quiver with fangirly anticipation! :D ♥

Dear Anna Sui,

Words cannot possibly describe how I felt about your show for F/W '09. I had to look at it a second time because, the first time around, I was too busy gaping (and gasping) at the models walking your show. I was in the middle of my Honors class stifling my awe as I fangirled in my chair, letting out inner squees of joy. I could only take so much as I flicked through the slideshow on Style.com as some of my favorite models walked down your runway, in this order: Agyness Deyn (Who not only opened, but closed the show as well. Her first appearance in NYC, thus far), Sasha Pivovarova, Natasha Poly, Lily Donaldson, Lara Stone, Snejana Onopka, and Vlada Roslyakova. Also in your show were some of my other favorites: Kinga Rajzak, Jourdan Dunn, Jessica Stam (!!), Liu Wen, Du Juan, and, on occasion, Katrin Thormann. Not to mention models that are quickly becoming popular on and off the runway: Hanne Gaby Odiele, Isabeli Fontana (well, she's been around, but she's starting to get work again since having a baby), Iris Strubegger, and Toni Garrn. It was as though you delivered a one, two punch to the part of my heart reserved for the fashion industry.

So now that my fangirlishness has subsided, let's talk about the clothes.

I love you, Anna; I really do. And your clothes are fabulous in all of their Victorian England-inspired ways. I almost bought one of your dresses a couple of seasons back for prom. It was either that or this AMA-zing black cocktail dress from Chloe with this lovely black bow that tied at the waist. I loved both of them on me. The dressing room girls at Nordstrom's loved both of them on me. I was gunning for a two-fer when my mom looked at the price tags and put her foot down, crushing both mine and the dressing room girls' dreams. Needless to say, I have moved on, though, both dresses have been imprinted in my memory.

Anyways, I'm starting to feel as though I'm seeing a lot of the same things. I understand that each designer has the special something about them, that signature bit that keeps customers season after season. For the boys of Proenza Schouler, it's the faux-corset/busier bodice. For Hussein Chalayan, it's the structural, almost other-worldly aesthetic that pushes the boundaries of what can be produced for the industry/what defines what is in "style". For you, dear Anna, it seems to be your penchant for lace and Victorian details. And again; I have no problems with that. In fact, I liked your line a lot this season. The boots were incredibly cute and looked, surprisingly, practical in comparison to some of the other offers I've seen thus far (Laura and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte, I have a bone to pick with you. Great boots, but how the hell would you get those bad boys on?), and some of the details of the dresses were fun and flirty; something I've come to expect from you. I also enjoyed the dresses near the end with the moon-and-bling encrusted headbands and the little moon brooches on the dresses themselves.

But, like I said before, I feel like I've seen a lot of this before. All I ask is for a bit of a surprise the next time I see your line on the runways.

With love,

Mia

Dear designers of William Rast (although I am specifically talking to you, Justin Timberlake),

Look. I get it, JT. You're trying to pull the whole mogul business thing that Jay-Z, Diddy, and J.Lo have mastered long ago. And I applaud you for branching out. Your music is fantastic and your appearances on SNL make me love you even more and hope that you quit making music to become a full-time cast member, spending the rest of your days making awesome sketches with Andy Samberg and the rest of The Lonely Island.

But, JT. Fashion? Really? I understand that you dress rather snazzily in real life, but a decent portion of your show for F/W '09 (Right before Marc Jacobs, I might add. Kudos for having the balls) felt like an extension of your first show last season. Those awful, fringe-ridden shoes were still there, only you put them on the men as well, and there was even more denim than last season's collection. What happened to those fabulous mens' dress jackets from S/S '09? What happened to the semi-cute mini dresses, too? I feel like you took a trip to the 90's with the ultra-matchy denim pants and jackets. JT, do you not remember what happened when you wore something like that when you were still dating Britney Spears? HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING?

Also, while I commend you for not borrowing from Marc Jacobs (Elie Tahari and Alice Temperley, I'm looking at you), don't try to do something that Christophe Decarnin did for Balmain last season, only Christophe Decarnin did it more awesome. While I can't stand shoulder pads, Balmain's military jackets looked much more fabulous in comparison to your black denim, over-sized ones. You might have gone a little overboard with your Bedazzler and box of rounded, silver studs.

I'm not asking for much. I'm only asking for clothing that does not scream American Midwest and South. Keep your Tennessee roots, but refine what you already have. And for the love of god, please, please use different fabrics.

With love,

Mia

In between school work, my new blog, and just being social every single weekend, I've finally gotten around to writing some more fanfic. I know I started writing out that little scene for Theories where Ginny talks about her first time with Draco, but I've decided to put that on hold in favor of some other stuff. Mainly Through a Long and Sleepless Night since I started thinking about it today since I have been suffering from a lack of sleep as of late. I've been sick for what seems like ages and I'm just starting to get over it, but while I was sick, it would take me forever to fall asleep unless I was hopped up on medication. But yeah; I'm starting to feel better now, so thoughts for stories are pouring in and I was inspired to write tonight.

I only have about a page done for this chapter and I'm stopping for tonight since it is getting rather late, but I wanted to post what I have for some opinions. There's already more dialogue rather than action, which was the case in the first chapter, but there needs to be dialogue to explain what's going on.

Part of Chapter 2 )

Hope you enjoyed it!

So I was cleaning out the nifty LeSportsac messenger bag that I use for school today and lookie at what I found! (You can click on it to make it bigger.)

Yes, you read that correctly. Scientology, the religion of Tom Cruise, Will Smith, John Travolta, and the Beckhams, has found its way to lil ol USF. I guess I had gotten the paper in passing to a class and stuffed it my bag without really looking at it. Good thing, too, otherwise I might have laughed at the person who gave it to me. I'm sorry, but I don't consider something based off of the works of a science-fiction writer to be a true religion. No offense to those who DO practice it; what may work for one person may not work for everyone else and, granted, Scientology has helped a rather decent amount of people, but still. The mere mention of the religion make my friends and I lolz.

Here's my nifty bag for those curious:

By the way, because I just feel like it, I did something that I remember talking to [livejournal.com profile] turkeyish about. I don't remember when, exactly, but I remember her mentioning that she had considered writing a story out of order, depending on what point in the story she felt like writing about at the time, and then putting the thing together like a jigsaw. Well, I had a semi-strange dream a couple of nights ago that, well, inspired me to write it out. Basically, I skipped ahead in the time line for Theories on How Danger Finds Us since I've had the story planned out since the beginning 'cause when I woke up the next morning I couldn't help thinking that the events of the dream would fit so perfectly with Theories. (This will probably be the only time I'll have a Stephenie Meyers moment.) I haven't written the entire chapter out yet, hell, I don't even know what chapter it would be, but I've decided to post some of what I've written, taking out the one little spoiler bit:

Theories on How Danger Finds Us, Chapter ??? )

So I happened to look to the side of my screen just now and what advertisement do I see that LJ has bestowed upon me? THE OFFICIAL TOM CRUISE WEBSITE. I see what you did there, LJ. Coincidence? I think not, LJ. I think not.

So my friend, Leah, bought the game Catchphrase to play with the girls in our dorm since we like playing board games together and whatnot (I got Apples to Apples for my birthday this year). If you've never heard of Catchphrase, it's this electronic game where you have different categories (food, entertainment, the world, everything, etc.) and each category has a list of words or phrases. The point of it is to describe the phrase to your partner before time runs out in order to get a point. Kind of like the game Password or Taboo.

Anyways, Nicole and I initially paired up and played a couple of rounds against other pairs. After a while, no one else wanted to play and so Nicole and I decided to see how many we could get per round, but only focusing on the entertainment category since we're total pop culture junkies (Remember that show The World Series of Pop Culture? Nicole and I wanted to try out if they still had it going. Our team name? The Triwizard Champions).

So we're playing and I notice that our friend, Erin, has her computer screen facing towards us. We stop a round and I turn to Erin and ask, "Is that recording?" She had been recording us for a minutes or so, but Nicole and I being the good sports that we are decide to keep it going. What resulted is this 13-ish minute video of Nicole and I playing Catchphrase, separated over three parts on Facebook. I just wish that I could put up the link, but alas, I'm pretty sure that I cannot. I have to ask Erin if she posted them onto YouTube as well because it's just so crazy.

Yes, you read that title correctly. And I have no explanation why. Although I could be phrasing that a bit strongly...

I was in Rio's room for all of ten minutes and when I get back, I open the door to find this girl from down the hall sitting on my roommate, Lauren's bed, asking me to leave the room for a few minutes. I had a feeling that Lauren was upset over some new development with her boyfriend, so I said "Okay" and just walked right back to Rio's room.

I told Rio about it and she's more upset about it than I am, considering how she's been pestering me to go to bed since I'm disease-ridden (again... *sighs*). If I wasn't incredibly congested, then I might actually care, but my reaction time's slow right now and I don't feel up to dealing with Lauren or this other girl.

The only thing about the whole situation that bothered me, though, was that I was in Rio's room for thirty minutes after I was asked to leave and when I came back just now, the door was locked and Lauren was nowhere to be found. I dunno. It just would have been nice to have been notified that it was okay for me to enter again.

(I'm being silly, aren't I? Yes. Yes I am. And it's okay for you to agree with me on how silly I'm being... XD)

So I'm reading this interview with Dan Radcliffe and in the interview is this video featuring a musical number that Dan did for Gypsy of the Year 2008. It is SO EPIC. My personal favorite is the kick line he does at the end only because of the height difference between him and the rest of the line. (Does that make me a bad person? XD)

Also, got the new Franz Ferdinand album today with Rio. I must say that the three years was worth the wait. It's so incredibly magnificent. The song Lucid Dreams is over 7 minutes long, but it's trippy at certain points, as though you're experiencing that sensation of knowing that you're dreaming.

For those interested, I have posted my exchange fic, Naptime Should Never Last This Long, at Portkey and at FIA. I formatted it the same way that it has been formatted at both the exchange and my LiveJournal, so it's not three separate parts like I wrote it, but just this one ginormous one-shot.

Anyways, this is mostly for myself, but yeah. My latest to-do list:

» Research (RED) for my contemporary social problems class.
» Start writing paper on (RED) for aforementioned class.
» Outline paper for Honors The Self.
» Begin writing paper for Honors The Self.
» Study for my first Stats test.
» Talk to my Honors advisor about my minor (I've decided to minor in English editorial).
» Email my aunt about possibly interning for NBC over the summer.
» Email almost everyone else in the family about college.
» Buy latest Franz Ferdinand album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, when it comes out tomorrow (the 27th). (This album is SO AMAZING! :D)

And now for fandom:

» Finish chapter 7 of Theories on How Danger Finds Us.
» Finish chapter 6 of The Prince
» Finish chapter 2 of Through a Long and Sleepless Night (This one hasn't gotten very good reception. Hmm. *waffles about it*)
» Start writing chapter 4, Autumn, of Every Season.

Blergh. I need to start going to bed earlier. No matter how amusing my friends are in the the wee hours of the morning (meaning: one of my guy friends regaled me with tales of how he has this girl who totally creeps on/stares at him everywhere he goes. I found it hysterical because he's painfully awkward around other people and, while he is very nice to ogle, he can be a total creeper himself.)

Driving home today with Rio to see all of my friends perform at Premiere Night! :D

Premiere Night is the first local competition of the season for the circuit that I used to perform in for winter guard. The competition is tomorrow, but I want to drive down today so I can rest and get my haircut tomorrow.

So, quote that I want to share with you that I told my dad: "Dad. There's always time for Guitar Hero." <--- Said because my dad got a PS3 for Christmas this past year and he just recently bought Guitar Hero. He told me about it and then said that when I came home that I would not be able to play; claiming I'd be "too busy" doing other things. And so, that quote was my response. :P

As per the comment by [livejournal.com profile] turkeyish in yesterday's post, I have just finished writing a "D/G snogging" drabble.

The drabble is set in the same universe as Theories on How Danger Finds Us, but it's supposed to occur after the events in the story. We all know that Draco and Ginny (eventually) get together, so that's not a real spoiler and I tried to make it spoiler-free for my story and I think it is. I'm working on chapter seven of Theories on How Danger Finds Us and I'm at this scene with Draco and Ginny (by the way, chapter seven is chock full 'o D/G interactions), and they're not at the stage where they're attracted to each other yet (well, honestly, Draco kinda is, at the very least, interested by Ginny, but unsure of how he really wants to categorize her), but my brain keeps screaming at me to write that they make-out and whatnot and argh!

THAT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN YET, DRACO AND GINNY! Patience is a virtue for a reason, and there will be plenty of time for snogging. I promise. *headdesk* -_-

I'm also really tired, so my brain could just be doing that simply out of habit. I dunno. We'll see what happens.
